Winter Wonderland Vignette

I am obsessed about snow and winter. Maybe because we don’t see snow in San Antonio. That didn’t stop me from creating a small white Christmas village for Boy. He loved it and contributed his own toy people and trucks to the project.

After Christmas, I still wanted a little vignette for the table. And this is what I came up with.

(Pardon the lighting. This table is in a little nook near our bath and good pics are just impossible!)

First, I removed the village buildings. Then I hunted around in my stash of spare glass bottles to use as vases. You don’t have such a stash, you say? Well, you should. Their uses are endless!

For a cozy winter look, I covered the bottles in old socks. I drew inspiration from the sweater covered vases and jars like these. I then used my favorite free natural decor element – branches. And hung stars and snowflake ornaments from them to create a twinkling, frosty winter wonderland.

I also used a couple of bottle brush trees from Walmart and a large white paper tree I made last Christmas.

It is super simple to make. I made a cone from an empty cereal box and trimmed the edge, so that it would stand straight. I then glued cotton balls on the cone, added golden twine and topped it with a decorative star. Instant decorative tree!

The vignette rests on a wicker tray in a bed of snow cotton balls.
